Gurban Gurbanov

I live in Gokdepe, an oasis city famous for its historic fortress. It is located about 45km northwest of Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

In 2009, I graduated with a degree in hotel management from the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan.

I began working in the External Tourism Department of “Ahalsiyakhat” State Travel Company of Turkmenistan and in only 6 months I was responsible for tourism in all the CIS countries. In another two months, I became a manager in the Internal Department and I began arranging letters of invitations for tourists, booking hotels and air and train tickets and different kinds of Turkmenistan tours. In this position, I gained valuable experience in how to serve tourists. I feel that people working in the Turkmenistan tourism industry should try to treat tourists as friends so that they will get the best impression possible of our country.

In September 2011, I was employed as the Head Manager of the Tourism Department of the Grand Turkmen Hotel, one of the most well-known hotels among foreign tourists to Turkmenistan.

From May 2016 director of the “AHALSIYAKHAT” State travel company.

If you want to work effectively in the Internal Department, you have to love your country and have to know every place that might be of interest to tourists. Just as importantly, you have to treat each tourist, as you yourself would like to be treated if you were visiting another country.
