The horse has always been a sacred animal for Turkmens. It is hard to imagine a Turkmen without a horse. “The horse is an equal member of the Turkmen family” – people say here. Careful and reverent attitude to the Turkmen horse has been carried out though thousands of years. At V century BC the “the father of the history” – Herodotus – has reported, that the ancestors of Turkmens have chosen the horse as a symbol of the sun, because, in their opinion, the fastest star on earth was to comply with the most fleet-footed animal on earth.
